Drama for development in post-war Iraq

Ddpwi(Drama for development in post-war Iraq) is a project, aims to re establish an equal connection between theatre makers and spectator, a relationship which is not based on a passive consumption of what ever is giving, as what is used to be in iraq for decades. theatre used to be one of the authoritarian methods, when the regime supported and encouraged only art which reflected its interest and values.
The war and isolation impact on the infrastructure, both materialistic infrastructure and human infrastructure, has been enormous, and it has left its trace very deeply in the present and the future of the society.
The damage of the education system has been huge as well, part of that was the education throughout the theatre education system.
This process and facts made the role of the individual in society very limited. People diverted into a consumption machine instate of real participator in the social process. This stat encouraged the individual to believe in the fatalistic, instate of his own strength and integrity. And that support the growth of many extreme thoughts.
The individual belief, of a social change process, in democratic way, did not exist and will not recreated easily without a process which will support the individual and provide him or her with space to practice, at first to be a real participant at the social process, and to move from passive spectator into an active involver.
Therefore there is a necessity for the Ddpwi project, (Drama for Development in Post-War Iraq) in the new transition society, Both from social and artistic perspective. The Ddpwi evaluate the social complication in the transition period of the society. Its objectives are to assist certain groups among the Iraqi society by using the theatrical tools. Also, train and educate theatre student in a various theatrical technique, in particular the technique of Augusto Boal, *forum theatre* and other theatrical forms of Boal, to use it, both at the academic sphere as a new theatrical form in Iraq and also to use it for social purposes.
